Bol Bachchan - A Laugh Riot!

Posted in

Bol Bachchan, the latest Rohit Shetty directed movie is a must watch, if you are in the mood to be hooting with laughter. Rohit Shetty in his inimitable over-the-top style pays tribute to the 1979 comic caper, Gol Maal.

Star cast includes:

Ajay Devgan as Prithviraj Raghuvanshi

Abhishek Bachchan as Abbas Ali / Abhishek Bachchan

Asin Thottumkal as Sania Bachchan / Apeksha

Prachi Desai as Radhika

Archana Puran Singh as mujra star Zohra Bai

Krushna Abhishek as Ravi

Asrani as Shastriji

Neeraj Vora as Makhan, Prithviraj’s sidekick

This was the first time I watched a Rohit Shetty movie, and I sure was touched by his magic. I have not laughed out so loud in a cinema hall for a long time. Post Bol Bachchan, I was able to understand why some of his previous movies broke all box office records and are in the hallowed 100-crore club.

The pulsating background sound used effectively throughout the entire runtime of the movie, along with some very memorable dialogues (close to 100), penned by Sajid and Farhad, make this movie a complete paisa-vasool.

The comic timing of both Ajay Degan and Abhishek Bachchan is spot on. Abhishek relives some of his Dostana-gay moves in this movie. While the movie is a complete family entertainer, it is the suggestive dance gyrations of Abhishek to a medley of popular Hindi songs, which perhaps made Bol Bachchan earn the U/A certification. Otherwise, completely good clean fun!

It would not be wrong to say, that the movie belongs to Devgan. He is outstanding as the hysteria-inducing-English-speaking Rajput hunk with rippling muscles. Sigh, he is makes for good eye candy, girls. Go watch it, just to see Devgan mouth dialogues like, “My eyes have fallen from my face (for mein apne nazron se gir gaya)”, “Brother-in-law will dies Tommy’s death (who kutte ki maut marega)”, “When elder get cosy, younger don’t put nosy ( badon ke beech mein, chote nahi aate)”, “My chest has become blouse ( meri chaati garv se phool gayee hai), "fish and chips without water" (jal bin machli)..Oh, there are such gems peppered through out the movie. I laughed so much that had tears in my eyes.

Asin and Prachi Desai look pretty, though the movie belongs to Devgan and Abhishek. On the silver screen after a long time, Archana Puran Singh in her sashaying satin sharara is a treat to watch, as the ageing, but young-in-the-mind mujra star. Krushna Abhishek, as Ravi, reprises Den Verma’s role (old Golmaal) with sparkle.

Over-the-top fight sequences, cars flying high in the air, Himesh Reshmiya composed music, and last but not the least, the title song in Amitabh Bachchan’s deep baritone voice makes Bol Bachchan, an immensely entertaining watch.

Caveat: If you are looking for logic or intellectual stimulation, then give the movie a miss. But, if you want to just laugh and not think, go watch Bol bachchan!

Well narrated

A Rohit Shetty flick comes with it's own unique branding, logic and followership. So it doesn't matter which RS film you are talking of - it would generally entertain you, no matter what. This review is well written, but a bit too bland and straight. Guess the reviewer wanted to retain the simplistic flavour of the movie being reviewed, because I have seen much more tighter writing from the same blogger earlier. Keep it up Nishi. I was contemplating whether or not to spend my sunday afternoon on this. Your review tipped the scales in favour of Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn (mind the spelling !). I am going ! Keep writing....
Cheers ! Ayon

Thank Ayon!

Thanks Ayon, will keep your pointers in mind for the next review! More masala and chutzpah will be there! And yes, will Mind it..the spelling;)

Cheers!
