The Conquerers Have Left, Have We Lost the Chains ?

Happy Independence Day, friends. But independence from what ? Regimes fall, yet individuals remain trapped in makings of their own. True, self determination of a nation is necessary for the self determination of an individual. The conquerers have sailed away long ago yet why do we still carry the baggage of submission ?

There is a fine line between being civil, polite and submissive. YesSir! , No Sir!  ,As You Say Sir!  . As long as it rocks no boat and earns a penny. Is that what life is about ? A life dictated by political correctness, chicanery and economic gain ? Then, a quick trip to the temple to soothe  a ravaged soul and soon back to square one for some more of the same. Have we lost the courage to follow our calling? To dream ? I am reminded of Tagore ... " Where the mind iswithout fear .. " and Rousseau ... " Man is born free, yet everywhere he is in chains ... ".

I would rather be a free man than a rich man. A life spent in servitude is no guarantee of richness in heaven. However, liberating the soul while living can be heaven on earth. So, my dear friends, find your calling, follow your calling and seek no permission.

Many are blessed in modern times to have been freed from want of basic necessities. I count my friends among them, those reading this online. After the bare necessities have been taken care of, the battle is in our minds. Is it a pipe dream to try and liberate the self and help our fellow beings seek liberation through our thoughts, actions and choices ? We can begin to spread the word of independence by first freeing ourselves, and then sharing the message with our friends, family and neighbors.

Many remain in the world still struggling to eke out an existence. Those among us that have moved beyond such concerns, is it not our duty to help those still in the dark join us in true freedom ?Contribute in any way you can so that it advances humanity. It is a moral imperative all beings  enjoy freedom. Find a cause that liberates and share your time, money, labor, intellect, skills and concern. It is much more effective than wiggling hips to a samba band on top of a float while balancing a box of ladoos on top of the head for grandma .
