Chocolate and Chia Seeds Pudding..A healthy, sugar free delight

A big hello to the readers of B'Khush Magazine. I am happy to be back and with me I bring this time a super healthy, sugar free dessert. And just in case you thought desserts cannot be healthy, read on. You will be pleasantly surprised.

The weather is finally starting to get warmer in this side of the world and I am working hard to get ready for summer, which means working out and eating right. This pudding has become a favorite when I want to reward myself without over indulging. Its sugar free and packed with the goodness of chia seeds, which are rightly called a "super food".

Chia seeds have no taste of their own so it’s easier to add them to just about anything. They are very high in Omega 3-fatty acids, a good source of fiber, rich in antioxidants and high in protein. When mixed with liquid, they form a gel like structure that can work as an egg substitute in baking. Some studies also suggest that they lower the risk of heart disease and diabetes. And best of all, they are very low in calories.

And if all the above is not convincing enough, this pudding tastes delicious without the guilt factor. Let’s make this super easy and delightful treat.

Chia Seeds - 3 tbsp

Cocoa Powder - 3 tbsp

Honey - 2 tbsp

Milk - 150 ml

Whipped cream, chocolate chips, chopped strawberries - for garnish, optional

  • Mix all the above in a blender, except the garnish items, until well combined.
  • Leave it in the fridge to cool for at least 3 hours.
  • Finally, top it with some strawberries, whipped cream and sprinkle chocolate chips on top.

Enjoy this super easy and guilt free dessert. Feel free to garnish it with your choice of fruits or nuts. It’s a perfect summer treat.

So the next time you crave for some ice cream, make this pudding instead. Trust me, you will not feel bad about taking that second serving.

Happy warmer weather everyone. See you again soon.

Thanks for reading.

Here is what she says about herself - A few years ago I would have laughed at the prospect of writing a food blog. Expecting someone to guide you on a recipe whose own cooking experience before her marriage has been next to nil is quite unbelievable. A foodie husband and his love for socializing ensured I do get a lot of cooking practice. And when I finally decided to be a SAHM, it gave me an opportunity to enhance my culinary skills. A lot of it was inspired from a number of food blogs on Facebook and some very talented people I met there. I love to cook, especially a lot of healthy dishes.
