“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

Nisupta, tell us about yourself
Basically a Bengali by birth handloom drapes have been a big part of me since birth as my maternal grandpa had been the one who during partition had shifted from Bangladesh to Kolkata & set up the famous " Chaya stores". Born at Kolkata I have done my schooling at Trivandrum & Sriharikota as my dad worked for ISRO. Graduated from Sri Sathya Sai Institute Of Higher Learning in BA with major in Philosophy. Later I went to do my fashion designing at Chennai from Indian Institute of Fashion & Technology. Stitching; embroidery; painting & playing with colours have been my hobby since childhood. I would sit up at nights trying to create different hand embroidered sarees. I have been fortunate since childhood to get my uncle's & grandpa's guidance to learn about different weaves which was my biggest practical learning lessons for my life.
Post my marriage in 1995 I shifted from state to state starting from Rajasthan; Tamil Nadu to Andhra. The different weaves taught me much. I had been a complete house wife until 2006 when I took up a job with a healthcare company & was happy doing it when in 2012 I felt a deep hollow feeling inside. Finally I felt it was time to give wings to my dreams.
Who or what inspired you to start "Angachaya"?
I must say a couple of people inspired me to start Angachaya. My son & parents; my best friend Rituparna who named "Angachaya" & yes Rupa who inspired me to give my brain child a form; translate my ideas ; concepts & colours to reality which led to Angachaya. Angachaya is named after my mom " Chaya"who has been my biggest support system, who taught me that any work done from the heart touches many hearts.
