Star Screen Awards

Posted in

The first B-town award function of the season the "17th Star Screen Awards" was quite a happening event. The King Khan anchored a big chunk of the show  and did it pretty well . His witty remarks and jokes amused the audience but when he lit up a cigarette inside the auditorium the sight was not at all amusing.

He was spotted smoking  sitting in the front row not caring at all for all those sitting nearby and subjected to passive smoking. Isn't he acting a little "Godly" recently? if you are clueless about the  adjective "Godly" you should watch his recent conversation  with Karan Johar at Koffee With Karan.

However he did manage to win an award for the Best Actor Popular Choice (male) for his performance in My Name is Khan. Katrina Kaif was awarded the Best Actor Popular Choice (Female) for her remarkable role in Rajneeti.

Another surprise element of the evening was "Udaan" winning the award for the Best Film and Vikramaditya Motwane  was awarded the Best Director award. Inspite of the fact that  Udaan did not feature any major star or it wasn't a big budget film, still managed to grab four awards  surely deserves a lot of kudos. Along with Udaan two other small budget films made it big, Ishqiya and Band Baaja Baraat won four awards each.

Dabangg as expected won six awards, two of those six went to Salman Khan ( Best Actor) and Sonakshi Sinha (Promising New Comer).

Vidya Balan (Best Actress) and Arshad Warsi ( Best Supporting Actor) bagged the awards for their performances in Ishqiya.

The entertainment quotient was pretty high that evening, the live performances by Shahrukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai, Shahid Kapoor Katrina Kaif and Bipasha basu enthralled the audience.
