Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2010: Hardly a Secret!

Every year, Victoria's Secret comes out with a spectacular fashion show which displays their current and upcoming collections and lines. This year was no different. But it was. Besides allowing Akon and Katy Perry to grace the stage along with their well-known models better known as the Victoria Secret Angels.

VS fans were literally amazed by the lack of tackiness it normally bestows. And while the skeptics were still unhappy with the amount of skin that the Angels exposed, you couldn’t help but indulge in the guilty pleasure that is Victoria Secret.

Needless to say the show was a complete success with the Angels entertaining audiences to the utmost but it was the amount of variety that the lingerie managed to portray that really had you thinking, “Hey! I could sport that!” Talking mere numbers, sources claim that the show used over 125 pounds of glitter, six inches heels worn by most models, 2,100 balloons and over 20 million dollars worth of jewelry. And all this just for one night of sheer debauchery which was watched by over 200 countries around the world. It would be incorrect to say that the show was just a good time; it is hardly that. Models are carefully selected while designers ensure each and every outfit is chosen with the utmost precision. VS 2011 looks like it is going to be sexy, athletic and trendy.

Taking over from Heidi Klum is ace model Adriana Lima. She strutted down the runway for the show which was titled Tough Love. While the girls initially wore tough looks, they slowly eased into natural smiles and worked the ramp with fun. It was raining glitter, sequences and bikinis of course, as the 2011 line was modeled. To add some real funk and spark to the each of the styles, the ladies either wore cover ups – sheer of course, wings – adorned with gems and feather or head wears which were extravagant and how. There were a number of themes that illuminated the Tough Love agenda. The Country Girl line saw the Angels add a more rustic style to lingerie which is normally deemed as urban. Next was the Game On section which was a dedication to the sports field in the country followed by the Heavenly Bodies piece, the Wild Things segment and finally, the Angels wore all things PINK.

With fabulous music and great performances, audiences live and television watchers were treated to a more fun Victoria Secret show. In fact, this year the organizers even allowed cameras backstage.

The insight meant viewers were able to gain a glimpse into backstage happenings and all the chaos that is perceived at a fashion show. However, what we saw was the total opposite. The girls were dancing and frolicking as they prepared to walk the ramp. Needless to say while it provided us with a never-seen-before perspective, it also made us realize of all the work that goes into the makings of a fashion show of this caliber.

And with that, the VS show came to an end. You can be sure next year’s show will be a lot hotter and wilder. But for this year, this was all the spice we could handle!
